Akin

Our history with Akin goes back over a decade. In 2021, nearly ten years after the initial launch on RubyLaw, the firm decided to conduct a comprehensive website rebrand. It opted to bid out the design portion but to continue its partnership with RubyLaw indefinitely.

This exciting project culminated in mid-2023 with the complete overhaul of the firm’s brand, including a name change to “Akin,” and a comprehensive redesign of AkinGump.com. Today, the award-winning website is recognized for its vibrant colors, human, approachable design sensibility, and streamlined organization, which help visitors quickly and easily navigate to their desired destination.

The RubyLaw Super Template was added as part of the latest relaunch. This modular page template empowers RubyLaw users to display diverse content in a flexible, open format. Within hours of the 2025 presidential inauguration, Akin launched its Executive Order Tracker, establishing a streamlined system for managing and disseminating crucial information about executive actions. The Super Template allowed Akin to design and create the tracker page internally to meet their precise specifications while maintaining consistent firm branding. Coupled with RubyLaw’s built-in blog management capabilities and sophisticated search engine, this allowed for a robust, feature-rich tracker built entirely by the firm’s marketing and communications team.

Many of the Super Template modules are also available on Akin’s other templates, allowing them to create cohesive, attractive pages throughout the site. These pages help drive users to the information they need.

Our History with Akin
Akin Gump’s entrepreneurial spirit and wide-ranging services presented a unique challenge: developing a flexible system to meet current and future needs while consistently applying established brand guidelines.

Akin Gump came to RubyLaw in 2011 with a design in search of an engineering team that could meet the challenge. The firm needed the flexibility to allow its more established practices to customize pages and support more significant amounts of content while giving smaller and quieter practices an appropriate presence with a fresh look. Both requirements had to be reconciled through a design and implementation that guaranteed consistency of look and feel for all.

These needs resulted in a highly flexible, modular system for building practice pages. RubyLaw collaborated closely with Akin Gump’s marketing team to execute the new design flawlessly. Our team accommodated the modular design by customizing the content editing core of the RubyLaw legal technology platform, which would not have been possible had Akin Gump selected another solution. In addition, RubyLaw’s team of engineers built a user-friendly back-end solution that mirrors the modular design and functionality of the front-end website. This solution is customized and unique to Akin Gump and supports the firm’s efforts to differentiate via the web.

Several years later, Akin Gump conducted a refresh. In addition to providing a design lift to the homepage, fonts and colors, site navigation, search categorization, and search results across the site were updated to deliver a faster, more efficient, and more engaging experience.

With RubyLaw, Akin is primed to continue differentiating itself while leveraging cutting-edge technology to power its marketing and business development efforts.
